Do nitrates have to be at zero for sps?

If your under 20, but I would not keep it anywhere near that. Under 10 and that would get you by, but the growth might not be perfect.

has to be lower than 10 really, They tend to bleach quickly with nitrates. So I would say try to keep your tank below 5 nitrates
