I just got this tank for free from a friend and it seems like it's missing a ton of parts and has some weird mesh thing on the bottom with a PVC pipe in the middle with holes drilled into them. I don't know what it's for and I am lost with the parts needed to make this tank work. Please help.

I would take out the mesh at the bottom and pvc, though ive had no experience with under gravel filtration, from what i read they are not good. As for the black pipe/tub connected in the back in pic 4 that is for a return pump. The water will overflow into the back chamber via the grate in pic 2. Each compartment in the back you can use for various types of filter media. i.e floss or charcoal or liverock or chaeto after it passes through all of that a return pump will ...well return it back into the main display tank. Other then that, a heater, lights. Thats my best guess.
