Octopuses have excellent eyesight which, at least in part, accounts for their intelligence. I watched a video of an octopus open the lid of a glass jar and take food out. There is a definite correlation between a creature's intelligence and better eyesight. Birds of prey and scavengers have excellent eyesight and intelligence. Ravens have in some ways scored higher than chimps on some intelligence tests. The Mantis shrimp's intelligence probably has a lot to do with its superior eyesight.
