What to do about my Chaeto?

It's got that red slime on it. And it is on the walls of my fuge too. No where else in the tank. I'm thinking of removing the miracle mud from the fuge. But what should I do about the cheato?

IMO if the red slime is only in the fuge, the fuge is doing its job. I would just trim the cheato back to give it more room to grow and comsume the nutrients.

I have some in my fuge, too. Just on the glass, though. I leave it be. The pods seem to love it.

If you want to get rid of it...during your next wc, try rinsing the cheato in the old tank water. It may help, but you'll probably loose some pods doing so.

1+ I get red slime on my cheato a lot too. I trim it back every 2 weeks.

Ok, i guess i'll just trim it back to about half. I didn't realize it was that normal.
I was thinking about shaking it it out in some old water but I was worried about losing pods.

You could shake it in some old water in a bucket, then use a fish net to pick up the stray pods.

Yeah I normally shake mine off in the old water.
