what's this?

The picture isn't too clear:

it's growing off of the live rock, branching, reddish.

Is it some kind of coral or algae? nobody in there seems to eat it or even bother it...so is it good or bad?

It is kind of hard to see. It appears to be Coralline Algae (good stuff). Is it hard like rock, or is soft or spungy??
 
I don't think it's coralline algae cause we have that all over other rocks and that encrusts itself on the rock. This branches out, protruding from the rock, skinny branches. I actually haven't touched it yet...didn't really think of that...I'll have to try that later when I replace some of the new corals we got.

There are types of coralline that branch.So it could very well be coralline.It is had to tell from the pic.Its either that or some type of coral.JMO.
