whats up skimmers!!!! :(

i have 2 peotine skimmers one somewhat large one in my sump and one hang on one. but some days they take out alot and sometimes they dont, one seems to take nothing out and the other one my stoopid flower urchin nocked out of the socket but when it does work sometimes it will take out a whole lot or nothing at all what is up!!!??? my bio load is high shouldent they be working??? thanks for all help

If you are running them the same way all the time and you're getting gunk out of the water I would assume they are working. I can vary with your feedings so that may be when you notice that they are working.
