Whats with my hermit crabs?

Something seems to be wrong with my parameters that scarlet legged hermits don't like. I have lost 4 out of 10 of em. 2 died shortly after moving into new shells. To my knowledge I haven't lost a single dwarf blue legged hermit. All my snails appear to be there. The only thing that is out of whack is my Nitrates are still at 20 even with water changes. I get em down close to 10 and they creep right back up. I'm thinking a large water change when my RO unit gets here next week.

Is it the Nitrates? Am I not feeding enough and they are starving? It's weird that it's only the scarlet legged ones and not the blue ones.

the blue legs are like 1/4 the size of em so hope not. I havent been feeding much cause of the nitrates so I could be starving the guys to death.

You need to definitely give them something, Not sure how to get your nitrates down, how much rock you have in it?

I think the #1 cause of most hermits dying is starvation.
