white thing growing in my xenia???

beeguiles

they call me fish geek ;p
So I came home from work tonight to find this weird white thing growing in my xenia. It looks white and fluffy and its attached to the base of the rock the xenia is attached to. I touched it and it feels hard but spongy. It's very hard to describe. I tried taking a picture. Here's a few crappy shots but its the best I could do. It doesn't seem to be hurting the xenia...yet. they are irritated in the pic bc I was touching the white stuff. Should I be worried? It looks like it would be very hard to remove without hurting the xenia.

That's a sponge. If it's oval shaped (I can't tell from the pic), it's probably a q-tip/scypha sponge. Sponges are harmless, but if you think it's bugging the coral, you can pick it off with a pair of tweezers.

It was kinda oval shaped at the top but I kinda squished it a little when I touched it. :( I guess ill leave it unless I see any harm.

Yea im with Biff, looks like pinapple sponge, they are fine little filter feeders, nasty when you squish them though they feel awful.
Just pluck it if you can although they come apart real easy.
