Why do people

Why do people use Kalwasser? I have read that they make it inexpensiveley with pickling lime.
I use RO water...my calium seems to maintain at 380-400 ( is that good enough?)and my KH alkalinity is around 13 drops. So, for me to make and add kalwasser...it would bring my alkalinity up into a dangerous area...correct?

But yeh, why do I hear so much about kalwasser and why are they using it? Not clear on it at all...

im going to take a stab here
people that use it have corals that use up the calcium quicker than water changes will replace it
so they use it in conjunction with or as an alternative to a calcium reactor to keep calcium levels up

With the corals you have, more than likely, pwc's will keep your alk and ca at acceptable levels. Test your calcium and alk. Wait 2-3 days and test again. See how much each dropped if any. This will tell you if you need to dose anything.
