When I woke up today I have brown algae or something on my live sand and it wasn't there yesterday.Is this normal

It's probably just diatoms, totally normal while cycling.

I added some red striped turbo or turban snails today to help with the problem

The brown diatom algae goes away on it's own. A good clean up crew is good to add after the cycle is done. You may need to actually feed em though if your tank isn't making enough food to support em.
