I built A Fuge (Pic)

Got bored today and built this $20 fuge. Its about ten gallons and plumbed into my main system. Put in a 5" DSB live rock and some chaeto. The plumbing is a little rough but im planning on hard plumbing the return in a couple days.

looks good. It's hard to see the plumbing because it's zoomed too far to be able to tell where the lines are coming from/going? From what I can tell it looks fine though.

Nope. The only animals I have in my fuge are hitch hikers -- starfish and bristleworms.

I have been for almost a year now but just noticed that it looks like no one else really does based no the other pics i've seen. Now I feel silly.

That's a great idea! I was always thinking how I can fit my 10 gal under the tank along with the existing sump. I could just use one of those home depot 5 gal ($2.59) bucket to do the same. That's all the room I have left under the tank anyway.

i thought of doing that to. Also, Kent Marine makes a slim auto top off bucket that is about 5 gallons, i think that would work too. I am please to say, my fuge has pods like crazy and bristle works in it now. I guess between the chaeto I got at the LFS and the stuff I already had, it seeded it pretty good. Maybe in a month or so ill try another mandarin.

Any CUC in the fuge is there by choice, not by me.

Give it 2 months. The life cycle of a pod from birth to reproduction is 30-45 days. If you wait 2 months instead of 1 you'll allow for them to have already started reproducing into a second cycle and will likely see your supply boosted substantially by waiting that extra month.

As for the CUC, I left the crabs cause the last thing I need is more evil hermits in my display but I moved all of my snails up to the display. I needed more anyways.

LOL. Is hermits crab really that evil? I did a search in the forum and only seeing posts saying they are evil but I haven't found what's that all about. I was just about ordering a pack of those CUC, but no matter where I look, the packages all have hermits crabs in there. Could you point me to the post(s) that talk about why they are evil?
