Brittany's teeny tiny reef!

oh, exciting! i love all the camaraderie and jokesters here, i'm already laughing! this is so swell brittany! i have a ten gallon which was my very first tank about fifteen years ago and you've inspired me to find a place for it and get it operational! can't wait to see more updates!

My arch already fell over from slamming around on my kitchen counter. Sadly I won't have anything to update for prlly a week or so till I get my new lights. Just waiting for the tank to cycle now. Maybe I will test the water tomorrow and see if anything is going on.

Marco you should set yours up too! :)

This is hilarious! I love the little crab. And HOORAY for black sand! I think I've started a trend...........

Yea I really love the black sand. I used black with the 29 gallon a year ago also.

Small update. I took out a cup and a half of live sand from the 29g and put it in the 10g just to give it more of a kick start. It's only been two days but I tested my water anyways and this is what I got.

I've been thinking hard about what type of aquascape I want. I don't want it to he a wall or just a pile of rocks. I'm thinking of a minimalist look. I found this picture on Google and really love it. Their tank is a cube but I think I might try to so something similar on a small scale. What type of rocks do you think I should buy to achieve this aquascape? Here is a before corals picture and after corals.

I want to do that aquascape or my husband just came up with a good one. He wants to do an upside down V. Have it start from the two front bottom corners and meet in the middle against the back wall. A big solid structure that can have a lot of corals placed on it and it doesn't take up all the space in the tank for fish to swim....I cant wait to get more rocks!

Yea you're right biff. I'm going to use zip ties and see how that works out. I'm ordering the pukani dry rock from brs. That type of rock as a lot of grooves and nooks that will interlocking with eachother, hopefully making it easy to zip tie.

I ordered ten lbs of dry pukani rock from brs today and my lights should be here between Tuesday and Thursday next week. I can't wait. Then ill be able to actually see my emerald crab in there. I did see him munching on the algae sheet I put in there for him since the tank has no algae of its own yet. Next paycheck ill be getting powerheads. Quick question about that actually. Should I get two koralia nano 240s or one koralia nano 425? I thinking two smaller ones but I just wanted to get your guys input before I decide. I gotta wait another two weeks anyways before I get them.

Great start! My favorite tank was my 10 gal contest tank. Might seem too small at first, but you can do so much with a small tank an s spend a fraction over a larger tank. Nice hitchhiker BTW

Bobby is right. Probably my favorite tank ever was also my 10 gallon contest tank. I did ricordea only -- I probably had 30+ ricordeas in there, with a variety of colors. I had one or two small fish. I think a clown goby and something else. I don't really remember. I got my ricordeas at coralmorphologic.com -- their mixed grab bags are out of this world, in case you are interested!

Thanks guys! I think I am also going to love this tank. It's a lot smaller so that makes it easy to get in and move stuff around and its right on my counter, a very easy place to look at it. My rock should be here by the end of the day Tuesday I just found out. That works out perfect bc that's one of my days off. On the other hand I tried to track the lighting fixture which I ordered on Monday and it just got shipped out to UPS today. I figured it would be sent out that day of the next...so hopefully I get that Tuesday too but I'm not counting on it. I'm so excited to see how they look.
