    RO/DI install

I saw a tank only system online: 6 Stage 100GPD 0PPM RODI Reef Marine Aquarium Hydroponics Reverse Osmosis System Besides a flush mechanism and a piercing assembly, does this look reasonable? I may add a second RO only system for drinking as this reduce installation headaches for me. Cheers

    Sand / Substrate Question

Thanks - I swapped the substrate for more samoan pink aragonite sand. I had in my mind that I needed aragonite, and when I saw the label and good price, I didn't think it through enough. Corrected now. Cheers

    Sand / Substrate Question

Hello,, Big Als had this one sale of $10 for a 16 lb bag: Nature's Ocean Bio-Activ Live Aragonite Reef Substrate at PETCO I don't really care about the live properties - but it was a good deal, even as dead sand. After reading a bit more, can someone let me know if the shells in this...

    Dry Live Rock

Hello, I purchased a used tank and a bunch of other items a while ago. After doing more research for my upcoming fish/coral tank I can see that I should have inquired about the dry live rock to see if copper was ever used in his sytem to treat his puffer fish or if he infact used RODI water...

    RO/DI install

Hello, After buying my tank in summer, I am still not set up yet. No worries, will be soon enough. I am looking to put my tank on my second floor, and also have a fridge on my main floor. Has anyone set up a system that has a line for fridge/icemaker and a splitter for a top-off for a...

    "New" Tank, part deux

So, I got the tank....the tank itself is in great shape...no work needed. The stand, homemade, could use a coat of stain/sealer...but should be OK. It came with a coralife skimmer (125g?) and a coralife 48" light (one of the 4 moon LED not working - but the 4 tubes are OK ), thermometer, 300W...

    "New" Tank, part deux

Thats a great point. I will have to wait and see what type of skimmer it has...and if it is one of the ones that can be converted to be HOB or in sump - or if in fact it is any good. I may then think about a sump - or make sure that it can be added later without too much hassle.

    "New" Tank, part deux

Thanks, I will get it on the weekend, and then cycle the rocks,...over which time I plan on reading to figure out what corals/fish I want and make sure everything is durable and compatable short/long term. Cheers

    Ignored the warning

...about moving the tank when wet. Kaboom...no more 45 G tank. So, now starting from scratch again. I got the stand, powerhead, tank, cora life t5 lights, heater, enhien 2215, and some other goodies used for $200. It didn"t have sump or skimmer. If any of you where to start a fish/coral...

A rock by any other name....

They do ship to Canada, but the s/h charges for 50 lbs brought the entire price to about $180. ($110 base price). I also think this total did yet include tax. I domestically get the key largo or eco rocks for about the same price, minus any surprises at customs. (I once ordered a used keg...
