Sand / Substrate Question

Hello,,

Big Als had this one sale of $10 for a 16 lb bag:

Nature's Ocean Bio-Activ Live Aragonite Reef Substrate at PETCO

I don't really care about the live properties - but it was a good deal, even as dead sand.

After reading a bit more, can someone let me know if the shells in this substrate will lead to the same problems as with crushed coral?

I am going to mix this with regular aragonite and want goby and pistol shrimp pair.

It does look like rather large pieces of substrate in the bag in the picture. Sand sifters will not like it. It also could trap more detritus/debris.

you would have to vac your tank every water change to keep it clean. so it depends on how much work you want to do

Thanks - I swapped the substrate for more samoan pink aragonite sand. I had in my mind that I needed aragonite, and when I saw the label and good price, I didn't think it through enough. Corrected now.
