How much livestock for a 10 gallon?

Make sure it is a fish that's OK (and going to be happy!) in a small tank, obviously, and be sure to keep on top of your water parameters. Such a small tank can quickly change if something dies and isn't caught right away.

    Cheap led light find

That's too hot for me...I'd melt like a freakin' ice cube down there.

    Cheap led light find

Field work is something I still relish, although I don't get out anywhere near as much as I like to in my current job and I certainly don't tolerate the elements as much as I used to when I was in grad school myself. These days I saw "screw it, I'm coming back when the temp gets ABOVE -10F" -...

    Cheap led light find

Cool Are you a forester in your day job? I started out as one with the Forest Service, not doing that any more, but there are days that I sure miss being in the woods!

    Cheap led light find

Good point, Biffer, that is the only quantitative way to verify that this would support a reef on its own. I was just daydreaming (albeit at 10:30pm) ha ha ha

    Cheap led light find

Yes, it's not overwhelming, but it's noticeable. The biggest benefit of this is definitely as a lunar system. Although it's gotten me thinking - - given that this is so thin, I wonder if 6-8 of these fixtures (with 4 tupes each) atop my 72g bowfront would be enough to support my reef tank...

Steal of a deal on led lights @ Costco!!!

That's exactly what I did tonight. It works great... Steal of a deal, considering that the aquarium light folks want $15 per LED fixture, plus more bucks for the power supply. This has it all.

    Cheap led light find

I wasn't saying it will support a reef tank by itself, but it makes a darn good lunar light setup at a dimmed setting, and when it is running at full power it does definitely supplement my Nova Extreme Pro 6-bulb T5. If the link is dead, go to Amazon.com and run a search for Pelion Link Light...

Steal of a deal on led lights @ Costco!!!

That first link might not have worked - - let's try this again. If this one bombs, just go to amazon's website and do a search for " Pelion Link Light LED Lighting System Remote Controlled" Amazon.com: Pelion Link Light LED Lighting System Remote Controlled 6 Feet of LED Lighting - Includes: 6...

Steal of a deal on led lights @ Costco!!!

Check this out - - I found a great led setup at Costco a few days ago. Finally a lunar led light setup that will give the aquarium light racketeers a run for their money. It looks like it will make a great lunar light system. Plus, because of the dimmer, it can be bumped up to (probably...

    Cheap led light find

Sorry it took so long for me to reply. Here's a link to the exact same led light but it's on Amazon's page for $49.99. $20 more than what Costco is selling for the EXACT same thing. Fight the price inflation of the aquarium lighting companies and consider this setup! Amazon.com: Pelion...

    Cheap led light find

Here's a way to get around the high priced lighting options for LEDs. Costco is selling a led setup for $29.99. I picked one up but haven't put it on my tank yet. Here's the info... It's a 6-tube, 72" product. Each LED tube has 6 LEDs. The individual tubes are connectable and there is...

Captive-raised stock? What's all out there?

I am setting up my second tank...72g with 150 lbs of my very own aragocrete rock (made 2 months ago and curing in a kiddie pool ever since). I have a 6-bulb t5 setup, skimmer, etc and am looking to teach my kids a valuable lesson by only (with the probable exception of my clean-up crew) using...

    Everythings a go

Please don't rush this along...you are responsible for an amazing amount of life in your tank as a reefkeeper. Take proper care of it - an extra week or two is but a blink of an eye. It is a promising thing that you want to learn about the hobby...do so and be patient...the slower you go the...
