On some of mine I sawed the bottom of the plug off to make virtually a flat plug. I have also gotten a flat head screw driver and gently hammered coral off before. I was told you can just snap it of per say but while trying I decided it made me feel better to use one of these techniques.

Thanks I just checked out his review. I saw the picture he took of the light and there was no splash guard. I dont think there was one at least could you validate this. If there is not one is it still ok to put on my tank. I guess I would just need a glass canopy if there isn't one?
