Canister filter

Guys

I'm still running my Canister filter, primarily because it came with the tank as part of the package when I bought it. I'm still having a few little probs with my nitrates, they're not bad, but still difficult to get them to zero out! Should I turn it off, unplug, dismantle it, and let the skimmer and LR get on with the job, or will that create more problems than it solves? Thanks as always :D

After a year I just stopped using my canister filter. So far after about a month I have seen no changes in parameters. The only change is that I don't have to clean that stupid filter and I have less tubing in my tank =)

Unhook that canister and slide it back somewhere outta the way.You can use it when you need to run carbon.
The rock and skimmer will do the rest.

I have learned here that canister filters arent the way to go. A skimmer and just live rock is a better way to go!

Thanks for the comments guys, think I'll go and get another PH to compensate for the loss of flow and then switch it off!!
