Looks like your getting a pretty good start.
But whats the PVC for?Looks like its being used for a surface skimmer or something?

Yea, it is, im going to be making a black acrylic back for the tank with an outside overflow and move the rock and sand to another tank to do that before i add any coral or fish i dont like having the heater and powerhead in the tank and im not even gonna comment about my makeshift skimmer tube LOL its very much so in the way of my rock.

Leave the power head the display.
I actually dont see any thing wrong with the way you got it set up.Matter of fact,That PVC will probably be the first thing to get covered in coralline algae which will make it blend in with your rock work.

I Guess thats true, ill see how it goes here in the next few weeks im still deciding on a refuge sump for this tank but im leaning towards no because im building a 240 8 foot soon and that with sump is gonna be about $900 before anything else. I do need a stronger pump tho i think, i have a 190 powersweep now but i think im going to buy a 240g hydor powerhead.

I love the doughnut rock, i want to get a few more peices and make a bridge from across the two rocks probably here in a few weeks but ill have to cure that in another tank by then.

I have a quick question about testing for ammonia and nitrites, will a freshwater test kit return false information or is it ok to use it for now? I am getting a reef test kit but i am waiting for my paycheck this friday its showing ammonia at about .25ppm and nitrites above 1.0ppm at day 5 i figured thats about right since the ammonia would be converted to nitrites and then they sit and wait to be changed same as a freshwater?

I have a tast kit that does freshwater and saltwater from the same kit. The only difference is he read cards. Are you sure it's for freshwater only?

Some test kits are freshwater only. Those will show incorrect results. Other tests are for freshwater and saltwater, but, like Piggy said, different colors will correspond to different results, so the package usually contains two different cards, one for freshwater and one for saltwater. If your tank is just starting to cycle, and you don't have any animals in it, testing can wait until you get a saltwater kit. You testing the water isn't going to make a difference or speed things up.

Alright, lol i just was trying to see the levels and what was going on it does make you very anxious looking a tank with rock... lol another quick question, i have mineral deposits in the tank that i thought i got rid of when i cleaned the tank but now they are back since there is water in the tank and if i scrub at them they git pretty clean but you can still see a little bit of it that wont come off, does anyone know how to get them off?

My old 75 was once a freshwater tank.I never did scrub the mineral deposit or hard water stain or whatever it was. After setting it up saltwater,it went away on its own.

Ok ill hold off on the tank cleaning then. My light is a Current Dual Satellite 24 inch, the doughnut is fiji live rock i saw somewhere on the net forgot what they call them but its natural.
