Diy rodi

I am looking at why it would cost for me to build my own RODI system. It seems the biggest factor in them are the filters but I just have a few questions about them. The filters are generally pretty universal as they all seem to follow the same standard, correct?
Other than the filter housing, the hosing and the filters what else make up the parts for an RODI unit?

from what ive read and heard, its one of those things that it seems easy to DIY but becomes more of a hassle as you get into it,

why not just look into a used unit ( making sure it works ) there plenty of people leaving the hobby everyday , im pretty sure you could find a nice unit

What do you mean as you get into it? I just want to put together an affordable RODI as the silicates in my water are getting it taken over by diatoms.

Sorry leon I just realized that you have posted multiple threads on this rodi issue that you are having. Other then the build your own on BRS I haven't heard of any other systems. And even then the BRS is just a customizing of the filters that would be included in the system. I agree with Northstar on this one.

Yeah. The link to the brs is what I'm looking at if I don't win the eBay bid I'm looking at currently. I just noticed you can get the parts separate on eBay. 35 bucks for 3 canisters and 10 feet of tubing but other than filters and fittings I don't know what I need

The eBay bid is a opened but unused 3 stage. One of the mount clips is broken and tats why it's being sod on eBay. If I win it I'll just buy another canister off eBay for 15 bucks for the di filter. Then I'm at underv100 bucks for a system!!!! And I think I'll actually wait to see what my water looks like before I buy the di addition. Apparently the water here in Chicago is not that bad.

I bought a RO/DI 6 stage unit off of Ebay for 100.00 came with all the filters and membrane. There a bunch of them, hang in there you should be able to score one

With my RO unit, it comes out aorund 4 or 5 ppm after the RO then 0 after the DI. Around 130-140 going in. I have Chicago water.

Thanks bro. I lost the bid but I bought a 4 stage off bulkreefsupply.com for 130 bucks!!!! Can't wait to get it it!!!!! Get my diatom bloom under control then start some corals!!!! Hot damn, can't wait!!!!

I'm in lake view, right across the street from the montrose harbor. Where about are you from? Where are the places on the south side you know? It's nothing for me to jump on LSD to get there. Any of them got good prices on lighting? I'm looking for a t5 ho setup. I want led but my tank too big to get them at an affordable price right now. Lol

From there, you might be better off going up to highland park. Souldn't be too far for you. I make the trip up there a couple times a year because it surpasses every other store that I know of.

Worth the drive. It is an hour from me also, but they always have good deals going on. They had buy 2 get one free on frags from their frag tank last weekend, and their larger colonies are also cheaper than anywhere else I've seen.
