DUMB question but I have to ask. LR and corals

Okay, as the title states, I have to ask a DUMB question.

Since the LR in the tank is the filtration, if I the rock becomes covered with a coral, say Zoas, will the filtering capability of the rock be reduced? I'm guessing no, but I have to ask.

I don't think there is a scientific study on this but I have never heard of anyone having reduced LR filtration by covering rock with corals. I wouldn't worry about it.

Nope, although there is bacteria on the outside of the rock, the primary filtration will be done on the inside of the rock. So no filtration will be lost. Btw, no such thing as a dumb question, unless one that's unasked. :)
