Emerald Crab with Broken Claw

So when I bought my Emerald Crab he was rather small but somewhere in the netting process one of his claws broke so he has one normal and one half claw. I was told that he would eventually molt and it would grow back but it's been about 6 months and this hasn't happened yet. Is this true or is he forever a single clawed crab now?
