We finally decided to pull the trigger on the filtration upgrade. I am planning to do a basement sump with an external fuge.
Equipment list:
Reeflo snapper / dart
Octo NWB-200 Skimmer
Rubbermaid 100G stock tank
PF-1000 overflow (my tank isn't drilled)
I am planning on using two overflows, the PF-1000 and a PF-300, both synced by a 18" wide single overflow box. This will keep the water level consistent, the look in the tank much better, and have some wiggle room in the return pump. Since I am pumping between 10 - 12 feet, The flow rate is going to be an average, so I can always remove the PF-300 if it isn't needed. I am planning on going into a 3" manifold that will carry the water into the basement sump, pass through the skimmer, and back up into the tank.
