Flushing noise

I have a drilled tank and have this flushing noise from overflow tube emptying to my sump. I know this is normal especially if the tube isn't completely vertical. Has anyone ever heard of putting a smaller tube down this line as way to "burp" the air out without the noise? I don't really care about the noise, just some else to tinker with :)

google durso standpipe, or gurgle buster. The durso really helped with my tank. The hey is getting the right sized hole in the cap.
