GH Madness

I just used a brand new API KH/GH test kit. The KH was 6 drops which according to the chart is 107.4 ppm. The GH test is determined by how many drops causes the solution color to change to green from orange. I added sixty drops to 5 ml of water and it did not change to green. Yes, I held the tube in bright light. I can't believe the GH is 1074.0. Could the kit be faulty?

This is the kit:

Forget about testing GH in saltwater.I doubt theres enough solution in the bottle for for that.
Thats also the same kit I use.6 drops means your alkalinity is 6DKh,which is low.I keep mine at 10 DKh or 10 drops.

you can raise your alk with water changes if your new SW is higher than your water in the tank. or you can use seachem reef builder or baking soda to raise it. i will look for the caculator for it.
