For the 2nd time our 5 inch green tipped anemone seems to have let got of the rock and gotten all caught up in the powerhead. We unplugged the powerhead and are hoping the thing will survive and work it's way out. Why is it doing this????? How can we prevent it?:frustrat:

They move when they aren't happy. It's looking for either better light or better flow.

What size tank do you have? What kind of lighting? How long has the tank been running?

ccCapt is correct, a happy anemone will stay put. If it's roaming, there's something wrong.

Most commonly, not enough light. Anemones demand a lot of light (more than most corals). If they are getting insufficient light, they will roam around the tank. Same with poor water quality. Anemones need pristine water conditions and will move around if your water quality isn't good enough. Those are usually the two main reasons (and why anemones usually don't survive in tanks that are less than a year old).
