Mating Hermits?

Big Daddy
Does this happen often?

I have two that have moved into a big crack in my rock, one has what I can only describe as mounted the other, they have been there for a couple of hours now without moving much at all.

I am not sure what hermit crabs look like when mating..

Or have they just died together?

Odd behavior!

Either way I wouldn't think my tank would be near established enough.

THANK GOD you didnt post a pic of those 2,or we'd have to ban you for hermit porn:mrgreen:

When it comes to saltwater, anythings possible I guess. They could be mating,or could just be hiding. Its hard to say.

Yeah, prolly just resting after their entire world was shaken up yesterday....they eventually came out and are loitering about the area now...atleast they are not dead...kinda panicked and thought I had done something very wrong.

one time i had 2 hermitcrabs in one single spot one on top of the other will pinching eachother. they stay there for 2 days. then i finally broke it up. they couldnt have been mating because they were different hermit types

I remember when I first started the hobby...I was constantly following all my cuc, counting them, seeing what they do. Now, it's like "Didn't I have more? Oh well, whatever." Hehehe.

I have more CUC than anything at the moment...but I think it was fight...or just coincidence...found one of the hermits cut in half this mornin...wonder where the shell is lol. I've only got 3 rocks to hide it.

Oh, cool lol...wow newb moment! I had siphoned out 98% of my water so I could solo lift my tank onto it's new stand from the floor..had moved everything to a bucket with a powerhead..was thinking I had a casualty....it really looked like the whole crab floating about...neato!

next time contact me and I will come over and help you lift your tank. I live on the N.E. side of S.A. so you arent very far away. I helped project move hes tank when he needed it some things are just safer with a extra set of hands.

Thanks!

Hopefully I won't be moving it again until I buy a house in New Braunfels later this year.

I alternated picking the ends of the aquarium up and sliding something under it until it was level with the stand....went quite smooth considering my wife and baby were asleep 5ft away and didn't stir.
