my 30gal tank progress

this is my first tank so i guess i'd see what others think i could do to make it better ;)
Its still cycling so i just have rocks...

Looks good. You might want to scoot the rock away from the left and right sides to make cleaning easier.

How does that make cleaning easier

When you use a mag float to clean the glass you won't be able to get around the rocks.

I got my salinity at 1.022. is that too low. Everywhere I look they have a diffrent recomendation =0

It really depends on what you're keeping in the tank...if you're doing fish only, then it's ok, but if you're gonna do a reef, then you'll ned to raise the salinity to 1.026

so if i plan to upgrade to reef later. is it ok if i raise the salt little by little once i have fish in it or should i just go up to 1.026 now. and if i have it at 1.026 with fish only will it harm them? thank ;)

If it's empty(no livestock), then you can just raise it to that level...but if you have any thing in there, then do it slowly over time.

Check craigslist.com in your area, on a daily basis...you're bound to find a good deal from someone breaking their system down, or getting out the hobby.

i found one on craigslist. its 178W Metal Halide Aquarium Light. $100 with cooling fan and bracket. is that enough watts?
