Need some major help

My 40 gallon salt water tank has been up and running for 8 months. I have had a few minor problems but now I'm lost...
My live rock has turned black. Tank fish are fine...Water is a greenish color to it. I have nothing but problems lately with live rock.. Do I have to have live rock in my tank???

What are your paremeters? And how long are you running your lights? How much,how often,and what are your feeding?
With some more info,we might be able to help you get the problem fixed.

If you do take out your live rock, you'd better have an awesome skimmer or filter to make up for it...

I have a aqua clear 300 and sea clone 150
is there anything that I can do to remove the black off the live rock?

When you do a water change,try to siphon it off.If that dont work,take the rock out and use a soft bristled NEW tooth brush,and brush the rock off in the bucket of water that you siphoned out of the tank.

The rock isnt your problem. Your perameters are. What are they including phosphates?

I agree with Bobby. As long as you have water quality issues, you're going to see problems.
