Question about jumpers

I know certain fish like to jump outta the tank, Such as Gobies and Firefish.

On average how high do they jump?... not trying to train them for competition or anything, but I am building a canopy for my 65, and I thought that might keep em in (it would be around an additional 8 inches over the tank.. but I don't think I want to put a top on it.

They can jump quite high and once they are out they can be impossible to find (they can flop for meters away from the tank). Why not just put a screen top on it?

I would think 8 inches would be easy for them to clear. If you really don't want to do a screen you could just avoid the fish that are notorious for jumping. Wrasse, easily startled fish like firefish, dartfish, etc. My husband built me a screen out of reef safe mesh I got off of bulk reef supply's site. Think the whole project cost under $20 and took 10 minutes. Well worth it and you never see it, we just cut holes and run the cords thru there and dump the food thru one of the holes.
