hey guys. i had a quick question about t5 lighting. for my laminate tank i wanted to add some t5 lights. i found some double 48 inch 28 watt fixtures on clearance at Lowes. i guess my question is... Would these fixtures be good enough and how many would i need for a 66 gal. tank? also; would 6500k daylight bulbs be acceptable?

I don't think they would work.Maybe over a planted tank, but they produce the wrong light spectrum for corals.

beyond that, those fixtures are indoor rated and would NOT hold up to the conditions of your tank (i.e. high concentrations of water vapor and trace elements of salt air) and would corrode fairly quickly, even potentially cause a fire somewhere down the road

also, they dont appear to be high output t5's
If I recall, 48" t5HO are 54 watts which would put off over twice as much light as those would.

It would be better to save up for a fixture designed for the aquarium
