Timer that does/can work with seconds

I'd like to do a DIY Auto-top off using; a maxi jet 1200 and some pieces of tubing. The tubing attached to the intake will go in my 2.5 gallon container that I use for my top off water and the output will go into my sump. However, the only timer I have in my possesion goes on 15min. increments. Is there a timer out there that I could plug the pump into that would run it for say...... 15secs? Thanks.

you could try a digital timer, those can go down to the minute.

Or you can set up some contacts and relays to automatically switch the pump on when the water gets too low.

lol, should've mentioned that it is NOT to scale.

Biff - Negative, it will NOT be submerged. Unless maxi's HAVE to be submerged and I'll just scratch this idea.

I do the top offs in my sump manually now, and it's no big deal. I just forget somedays and I come home to some bubbles being blown into the DT. So I'd like to be able to setup something cheap to do it everyday for me.

harborfreight, digital timer, goes down to 1 min increments... i suggest you look at my build thread, i did what your talking about trying...

there is still a float valve involved but its super easy to build.
