i just bought an led fixture (48 inch) and it here are the specs
28x3w royal blue
28x3w natural white
7x3w infrared
7x3w utraviolet UV
3 royal blue moonlights

so basically, my question is:
now that the LED's have UV, can i get rid of my UV sterilizer, or is it something completely different?

thank you

the LEDs cost me $300 btw

I am going to wager that they are completely different. From my understanding, UV LEDs aren't truly UV. They act more like a black light to help make colors pop. Where as the UV sterilizer is used to kill off micro organisms in the water column.

Yep, they are two different things. You can still get rid of your UV sterilizer if you want though, it's an optional piece of equipment and most people don't use them.

ok thank you everyone, i have a another question though.
i have the option of replacing some of the infrared or UV for either orange, cyan, or green. i can do as many or a little as i want.
would anybody recommend that i make a switch
