what is this?

Don't have a pic yet, but I have a growth on the base of my frogspawn. It looks like a fungus of some kind. It is grey in color, it covers the stony base, and is now growing towards the heads. It seems to have started from the rock underneath. It is nowhere else in the tank, but it seems as though it's starting to irritate the coral. I brushed a little of it off last night, and it seemed almost dusty, if that is possible under water. Anyone have any ideas without a pic?

Hi Newreef,

Sound like a sponge to me.
I have tons on my rocks.

It shouldn't get near the heads of the frogspawn.
If you brushed it off, it may actually come back. Keep an eye on it.

impossible to definitely identify without a picture. post a picture when you can. If you have sponge in your tank and want to get rid of it add a couple small cowies for cleanup.
