I plan on starting a new tank Dry Rock Aqua-scape With a 2/3 dry Sand 1/3 wet active sand and all dry rock. This tanks much longer to Cycle But it's going to be a lot cheaper to do any idea's on a time frame ?
Would it be harmful if when I'm cleaning my tank if i tank 1 of the live rock's out to shake the sand off it. Ill be doing a water change at the same time was going to take it from the tank to the drained water bucket and shake it off.
I started with Tap water and made it safe. Have done 4 water changes changing about 1/2 the water using Distilled water. the only water thing im using is a hang on the back Carbon filter and a 400 power head. and i feed my fish once a day
when i do my water changes i use three 5gal buckets. Only this time one of them was open the other day when i was getting ready to change the water in my tank and Hair got Split in it from a hair cut and idea's on a cheap way to get it out????
Im getting ready to do a water change i have let my water sit for a few weeks and i was getting ready to to heat the water and change it i tested the ph lvl and it was at about 7.4 willl this go up with heat or am i going to have to get some buffer tank ph is at 8.2
Nope im 90% sure that its cycled all my lvl's are at 0 no more die off and as far as a refugium goes i plan on making one here before x-mas and have a great idea for a DIY protein skimmer
My tank is holding at about 7.8 to 8.0 PH i have been reading that most saltwater fish are at 8.3 PH would this kill fish i buy ?
This is my tank Thanks :)
well for now im going to just start with the live-rock i have and some fish with a small cleanup crew but hope to get some soft corals going at some point after i get a better filter setup
