Algae junk is growing in the dark

So I have this unknown algae junk growing in my tank. I really thought it was cyano except it doesnt grow in a mat, it has long feathery strings, and it grows fastest in the dark. Which confuses me beyond belief. I dont think its dinos because there are no bubbles, and it doesnt have the snotty appearance.

nitrate - 0
pH - 7.9 (lights have been off all day)
alk - 7

that is cyno! im having that issue right now and thats EXACTLY what it looked like in my tank before it went everywhere, (btw this has been going on for mnths now) but my sand is still clean and white and not chunky

Actually as soon I got back to a normal light schedule it was gone in a week, so im not convinced it was cyano
