Anyone know what the heck this is?

    I found this growing between my mushrooms. It is white and kind of fuzzy. Itis the round white thing at the base of the red mushroom in the center of the pic. A little cotton ball thing. That is the best way I can describe it, but its obviously not. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    That looks like a sponge. They are safe.

    Ok, its all around the base of the mushrooms and I pulled a piece off. It was kind of hard like salt creep texture.
