Are serpent stars social creatures?

I got a really cool harlequin serpent star a few months ago. Well, I got so many compliments that my LFS had another one on sale today so I picked it up for $10. Well, since he's gone in the tank, he hasn't left the little entrance to the cave my original serpent lives in ... is that weird or normal with them?

Weird. They usually will act like the other doesn't exist.

I think they will pay each other no mind and hang out together if they happen to be in the same area.

I thought it was strange but, cool at the same time
