I would go with the one daugherty suggested, they will be better suited to the depth of your tank. You have the 4 foot 120 right?

that is two 250w mh and 4 65w pc's you would have to make a hood to put them in since they are a retro fit. it also looks like you would have to pay an extra 5 per on off switch which is still cheaper than buying a full fixture. that would give you 6.33w per gallon.

im gonna have to pass on that because im not a huge building stuff kinda person. that budget of 500 i put as a guideline so i wouldnt get suggestions on lights that were like 800 dollars but you dont have to keep it under 500 just dont make the suggestions well over 500

That won't be nearly enough for a 120. That's the downside of having large tanks, lighting is super expensive for them.
