favia frag placement

so I got a small favia frag on a plug. LFS guy told me it grows it's own skeleton and I can just stick the plug right into the sand. should I follow his advice? glue it to live rock? put it next to live rock? thanks guys, I promise picks when I get home

If you put it on the rocks, it will spread and grow onto the rocks. If you leave it in the sand, it will tend to grow into a round shape.

Yeah, put it in the sand and it should grow into a round ball with a flat base.

Put it on a rock and it will grow out to encrust the rocks - like a carpet.

Either way works. I keep my favia in the sand.
