Reefing newb
Hello everyone,

Today I am starting a new build on a 20 gal. reef tank. I had to get rid of my 55 gallon 3 years ago when I went to college but now that I am in a house with some guys I am looking forward to starting this new one. I will post pictures in a sec once I figure out how to do it.

Hey... can someone please tell me how to post photos. I am currently trying to use photobucket. Thank you

upload to photobucket. then click on "share" link (above the photo you want). Then click "get link code", then copy and paste whichever format of pic you want to link into your post. So, usually I like to do the IMG for forums, either in full format if it's a small pic or thumbnail if it's a higher resolution pic.

also, can I ask why you're not going to do a sump?

Okay figured out the pictures. Here are some so far. I will probably do a leak test either tonight or tomorrow and then after that hopefully add the sand and the water.

Yea, well I'm not doing a sump simply because I don't quite have the room or the budget for it. My original plan was to go with a 10 gallon nano because at my LFS they had an extremely well put together one and they ran it with no sump. But when I got to the store I ended up going with the 20 gal. long. lol. My only concern with originally not having a sump was not having room for a protein skimmer or a UV. But with the internal uv i found that problem is fixed and I plan on getting a hob skimmer in the future. The main thing is I will have to be religious about water changes. But my plan is to take it very slow and let the tank cycle for a long time.

Ya man, I was pumped about finding it today and so far its so sick. Its so easy to install on the tank and the blue light is sick. lol

The Remora C skimmer has good reviews online, under $200, and looks clean and neat. I have pics of it if you like.

Thanks everyone. Yea I plan on getting a skimmer first thing as soon as my budget allows. I will keep posting pics and new things as they happen.

Okay currently doing the leak test this morning.

Now I'm off to the store to pick up some last minute items. Hopefully by the end of today we can have water.
