d2mini's REAL 130g Rimless Cube Build Thread

Actually, i like to think that's my own personal little beach front property.
It's kinda like a Salvador Dali of Escher painting though... a beach within the ocean. Kinda trippy.

LOL yeah I have 2 bald spots that I haven't bothered with. I don't want to change the direction of my powerheads because I have a nice circular flow right now.

You could get a doll house beach chair or two and set up down there.

Looks like those sponges are actually doing great in there Dennis.

Cant believe that David brought his doll furniture fetish to the forums though.

and so it begins... Project ATO & Water Change System. :coolgleem

Are those tables just sheet metal as they appear? Are they rated to hold that much weight? How is this system plumbed? It looks like the left tank will be your ATO and the right is your SW? What are you doing for mixing in the SW? How is it plumbed into the DT? I am excited to see your progress on this Dennis!

The only problem I see in the way you have it piped together. Once the pump shuts off, the tanks will equalize to the same height.

You run the risk of contaminating your RO water tank with salt from your salt mixing tank.

I would get a bulk head and have the water from the RO tank get pumped into the top of the mixing tank. Above the max water level of the tank. That way when the pump does shut off, the water wont syphon back.

I do like the tanks too.

Ya, i was thinking of that and might just leave the bottom one for emergency draining.
I was just going to shut off the valve before shutting off the pump, so they won't equalize but might as well just plump it to the top now.

Wonton, the 65g (left) was $120 with tax and the 55g was $100 with tax. Local pick up.

Justin, they are hot water heater stands. Left is ATO/Fresh and right is salt.

Awesome setup Dennis! My hubby has already graciously sacrificed some of his precious garage space to my two trash can mixers, but I would love something more......sophisticated and efficient. Would love to do away with the entire bucket hauling thing! Maybe in our next house........hmmm....... Great job on the setup so far!

Couple of pics just because.

Got some red algae on the sand in the left corner behind the yellow sponge.
Sits on the surface of the sand and can be lifted out pretty much in one piece.
Shows up in that same exact spot everyday.
What's causing it? I should have flow over there. No less than similar areas on the opposite side of the tank.
