testing used aquarium - salt showing up on outdide

Grozier - thanks, I tried to search it but couldn't remember the word creep - "salt migration" didn't turn up any usable results.

testing used aquarium - salt showing up on outdide

I've had my new- to- me 29 Bio cube running where I'm going to set it up with tap water as a test. No leaks, no water loss - but soft moist salt ( easy to wipe off with just my finger) wicking up from the bottom plastic. The spot is about 1/4 x 1/4". Any call for concern - I saw it up and...

    adding live rock (only) overtime

I'm thinking of using only live rock (in 29 Bio- cube) adding 10-12#'s a week ' till I reach 40#' s or so. Any problems with this plan? Extended cycle? Possible algae problems? If this will work - should I add any snails during this process?

    Which test kit question

About ready to get the Bio-cube up and running. Been ready multiple web-site, forums, even a blog or two. I saw a specific brand name of test kit "very accurate / not way expensive" - but can't find it now. What's your favorite test kit? Thanks in advance R

heater placement in a bio cube 29

current plan: In-tank media basket with filter floss, with chem- pure or purigen, cheato with submersible light, Rio 6HF concern is water level in 2 - 3 won' t be high enough to cover a heater

heater placement in a bio cube 29

I'm going to use an Aquatic life 115 skimmer in the first chamber - not sure if the other chambers will have enough water. Can I put a heater in a back corner of the display/main tank. Is there any problem with coralline building up on it?

good news - got the bio cube cleaned up - bad news

scratches!!! The used- cube was priced right and came with some extras ( Rio 6HF, canister filter we' 'll use on my wife's fresh water, timed control, upgraded lights, UV)- so I' not feeling as ripped off as I might have. researched scratch repair --- thinking now, if I can' t find a good...

Cleaning up a new purchased previously abandoned tank

Filled it yesterday with tap water plus 1 gallon vinegar, ran it overnight, reached in with a brush this morning the coralline seems to be coming right off (I'll do more after work). Thanks everyone for the good advice. I've been researching how I'm going to set it up and will certainly be...

    Oceanic Biocube 29

I bought a used BC29 a couple of days ago. Paid a little less than you. It had been modified with a cartridge filter and UV - I've been researching options on setting it up (the way I want it). It looks like they come with a skimmer - most say you don't need one on such a small tank. My guess...

    bio cube cart. filter question

in the Jeep world we call them PO' s (previous owners) - the PO of my 29g bio cube added a cartridge filter. My plan is to dump it (possibly use on wife' s fresh water tank). I'm not sure what may have been removed from the back of the cube. Any pics would help. I'll be using plenty of live...
