24 gallon current nanocube

ZOOT098

Reefing newb
i picked this thing up on craigslist for $100

pretty cool little tank

anyway its set up and running very well

my only beef is it really seems to run hot, 80-82degrees
it cools down at night, but when all the lights are running it gets pretty warm

fans are running fine (i ordered two new ones because they are noisy)

anybody else have this problem, or quick solutions

i leave the feeding lid open, but dont want any fish suicides

i havnt seen it go above 82 yet
it makes sense that they would run warm
i just know in my big tank i like to keep it about 78

80 to 82 is fine. Dramatic temperature swings of more than a few degrees over a 24 hour period are more harmful than consistent, higher temps.

the fan noise isnt that bad, but im hoping the replacement fans will be a little quieter and operate more efficiently

if they are the same at least they are new, one of the originals has some trouble starting up

Congrats! I have been keeping my eye on craigslist for one of these myself. I think it would make a great seahorse tank.

no the most important thing for sea horses in things to perch on. and food some of them need to be feed a few times a day. also some of them only eat live food.

Daugherty is right, You'll see different recommendations for them to include a tall tank, a larger tank (55 gal+) and so on, the fact is that they need a solid fuge with good pod production, a lack of turbulant water, plenty of places to perch, and stable water quality, and they can do great.
