Cheato fading away

Anyone have any experience with there Cheato Fading away?

Its been growing regularly for over a year in my refug with a regular 6500k bulb, but over the last few weeks it has been turning white and dying. I havent made any changes to my tank and I do run phosphate remover.

I first thought maybe Ive finally sucked all the phosphate out of the rocks and theres not enough nutrients in the water, but I have a small patch of dragons breath in the display tank that is still alive so I know the nutrients are there.

You may need to trim it back so it has some room for itself. If mine gets too bunched up it will start to turn white and die, usually on the top near the light. Then I know I'm overdue on a trim and cut some out.

Thanks. I ended up tossing 3/4 of it away yesterday, hopefully that helps

Instead of tossing it, you can sell it on Ebay and make quite a bit of money! That's what I do.

She's quite confident in her magic chaeto that she doesn't mind sharing the field w/ you and your miserable non-magic chaeto :mrgreen:

I am all too familiar with fading chaeto, though mine never turned white. I started out with a good sized clump of it, I've never cut it back, and it is now maybe a 1/4 the size when I got it. I don't think mine is magic either :dunno:
