In any case, if you saw a fish nipping at the clam, it was probably eaten by someone. Especially if it was injured, then everyone will go scrambling to get a piece of it.

Ohh well actualy my cleaner wrassie had killed 3 of my clams. I guess there are paracites on them and he tried to get them. I'm not getting anymore clams. By the way does anyone know where a cleaner wrassies natural home is. Is it hawii.

There are a couple of different species, but primarily they come from Indo-Pacific reefs. SO unless you can get to Indonesia, the Philipens or northern Australia, don't release it.
