I was at a tropical fish store yesterday and I told the lady there I was new to this hobby. We started talking about water levels, specifically ammonia. She recommended Cut To Fit Ammonia Filter Pad, I ended up buying it, but I cant find any reviews on it. Does anyone know if they work well?

I have never used any sort of ammonia removal filter. In my oppinion, the biological filter in the 1-2 pounds per gallon of live rock will be adequate to convert the ammonia to nitrite and then to nitrate.

Under normal circumstances, you won't have any ammonia in your tank. Why would you need a filter to remove it?
