I am in the process of making my own liverock using the 3:2:1 parts of crushed oyster shells, rock salt and white portland cement. Anyways, I am using some mixer sand (like sand that is often used for cement mixing) from lowes as a mold bed, you know where I dig out holes and then drop my mixture into there and let it harden. I am very pleased with the results so far (with the exception of my very first batch lol) I have gotten pretty good at making interesting shapes that look good.
Anyways, the only problem is I was wondering if there was a method to keep the sand from sticking to the cement, because after it hardens the surface of the back side has sand stuck to it.
