Porcupine Puffer

Reefing newb
Been thinking about getting a Porcupine puffer, just wondering how he would do with tank mates and how easy they are to take care of. Also heard that they require you to do more frequent water changes? Any information would help. If I got one he would be with an undulated trigger (who is very mellow), a volitan lionfish, a small clownfish, and a small snowflake eel.

They will do well with the livestock you have listed...they are messy eaters, which is why normal water changes are needed and a good filtration system. The only drawback is that you can't keep corals or a cuc with them.

Minimum tank size for them is 180 gallons. And the trigger (even if it is small) requires a much larger tank than a 55. The volitan also requires a 120+ gallon tank. Your tank is way too small for most of your fish; you should re-evaluate the animals you are keeping as you cannot meet their needs with your current set up.

They do require you to do more water changes because like any predators, they tend to eat a lot, and they tend to be messy eaters, which spoils the water faster. This is even more problematic in a small tank.

You want to put a fish that gets up to a foot long (and they easily get that big, and they grow pretty fast) in a tank that is 25% of the size that it should be, with arguably one of the most aggressive fish available to us in the trade (which is also not a good choice for a 55 gallon tank) and you're going to get all upset when we tell you its a bad idea?

Obviously you didn't really care what we thought, or you thought that we would coddle you and say its a good idea.

You're next thread will probably be 'why is my tank covered in algae' because the fish you have now are already past the safe stocking limits for a 55 gallon tank, and you're going to add a very big, very hungry puffer to the mix (because we know that despite what we tell you here, you'll bring one home anyway based on your response to those that burst your bubble)
