should I do a water change?
do I need to wait until the Nitrites reach zero?
Salinity: 1.025
Temp: 77.2
Ammonia: 0ppm ( high of 4ppm )
Nitrite: 2ppm ( high of 5ppm )
Nitrate: 10ppm ( highest reading so far, has not come down in 5 days )
High Range Ph: 8.0
Yes, wait til amm and nitrites are at zero, then do a big ol' water change to get at those nitrates. Everthing is coming down nicely!
Love the graph. So professional.
I know, I know, the waiting is killer. I had a multiple highlighter situation going myself. I never thought of a computer graph, if I had, I would have done it!
Salinity: 1.025
Temp: 78.5
Ammonia: 0ppm ( high of 4ppm )
Nitrite: 0ppm ( high of 5ppm )
Nitrate: 20ppm
High Range Ph: 8.1
Going to watch it until Friday to make sure the Nitrites are still zero, if it is, I am going to do the 20% water change. Mixing the water now, so it can sit/mix a couple of days.
I ordered the mini CUC from Reefs2Go last night ( figuring it would take a couple of days to get here ). I didn't want too big of a crew in fear that they might starve to death.
Also... starting to get some Diatoms and a little bit Algae.
I was looking at the tank with a flashlight and noticed that I may have fleas? little white bugs hopping all over the place. Hope they are not bad.
hmm, since they are good... I will have to figure out a way to "save" them when I clean my sump. I have hundreds of those things in my sump and I was gonig to clean it out as part of my water change ( I have a good coating of white new-tank-dust in there ). The ones in the tank I will just leave alone and let my future fish enjoy the snack in their new home... kind of like finding the little chocolates left on your pillow at hotels...
since they are not fleas... now I have to figure out why I am itching... haha just kidding. :D
moving along here. Nitrites were still Zero Wed eve, so I did the water change yesterday morning. These are the readings I got after running for about 10hrs.
Salinity: 1.025
Temp: 78.0
Ammonia: 0ppm ( high of 4ppm )
Nitrite: 0ppm ( high of 5ppm )
Nitrate: 5ppm ( high of 20ppm )
High Range Ph: 8.1
Have the CUC from reefs2go coming in the mail today. Going to do another reading tonight ( I try to test the water about the same time each day ). If all goes well I think I am good to add fish???... my little guy really wants... Nemo :D
Corals came very fast ( next day ) and I was very very impressed with the packaging. Every Coral was tripple bagged and there were 2 heat packs inside of styrofoam packed with news paper. They left nothing to chance with delivery.
I got 3 Mushrooms, 3 Zoanthids and a Frogspaun ( my favorite so far )
my peppermint shrimp went after one of the mushrooms as soon as I put it in the tank...
I temp acclimated them for about 30mins.
Dripped in bucket for about 90min.
Dipped in Two Little Fishes Revive for 5 min ( worked awesome, a couple of nudi's came running out )
Rinsed in salt water
Put in DT
All pics were taken a few hours after they made it into the DT.
