OK I did the K4 mod w/ the boat prop and MJ 1200 impeller.
WOW! IT works great! I even hooked them up to a JBJ wavemaker, one on each end of the tank, and they fire up 100% of the time, no putting hand in front to create backpressure needed. Doesn't really rattle much, and only once about every 10 cycles.
So, why is it that K4's are no good on wavemakers? What specifically ruins them?

the motor, it's a lot of stress. takes a lot more to start it turning than to keep it turning.
